MARTIN BUZORA, DGC

Martin Buzora is a CSA nominated Director/Cinematographer working around the globe. His latest series "Kenya Wildlife Diaries" (2016) chronicled some of the most important conservation and anti-poaching work in East Africa, and was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards for Best Factual Series and Best Cinematography, and premiered on Smithsonian and Love Nature. Besides documentaries, Buzora also shoots dramatic feature films. His approach to storytelling remains the same regardless of the medium: whether it's film, documentary or photography, great storytelling explores the dramas of life and illuminates the human condition. His latest short film "The Story of Aisholpan" (2017) was a portrait of Mongolia's now-famous young Eagle Huntress, a breathtaking tale of female empowerment and evolving tradition, set in the stunning landscapes of the Altai Mountains.

Previously, Buzora filmed and produced the narrative feature "The Demolisher" (2015), a dark, visually arresting thriller that explores the psychological effects of trauma. An unapologetic portrayal of what can happen when a fragile mind is pushed too far, it premiered at Fantasia Film Festival in 2015 and won the Silver Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature. Buzora was also the Director/Cinematographer of "Into The Fire" (2011), a television series that took a behind the scenes look at the lives of the world's best Muay Thai fighters across the globe.

Buzora was born on June 24, 1984 in Budapest, Hungary as the younger son to parents Steven Buzora, a professional drummer and Sophie Kovacs, an art teacher. Brought up in a family of passionate travelers, Martin was exposed to different cultures from a very early age. At age 12 he moved with his family to Ontario, Canada where he completed a Film Studies program at Ryerson University. In 2006 Buzora co-founded Black Fawn Films and produced "Neverlost" (2010), a feature drama that won the Audience Choice Award at Fantasia Film Festival.

Buzora is in development on a few documentaries and dramatic feature films.
